Green buildings are a recent trend in the building industry. Many building owners and operators want their buildings to earn a Green certification so they are recognized as buildings that are efficiently run and offer a better quality of life for residents. In turn, these owners and operators want to hire staff that understand Green building concepts, strategies and technology.
The 32BJ Green Building Training program is a cooperative effort between property managers, 32BJ members, union staff, and our city’s Greenest superintendents. We provide the New York City metropolitan area with a professional building service workforce capable of reducing energy use, conserving water, saving money, and providing a cleaner and healthier building to live in.
The 32BJ Green Building Training program has developed a series of courses that teach the best practices for sustainable operation and maintenance (O&M). Our courses offer Green training for residential multifamily buildings and commercial buildings and the opportunity to earn industry recognized certifications. We also offer courses on the LEED rating system used by high performance buildings and the opportunity to earn LEED Professional certifications.
All 32BJ union members who are eligible to participate in the training program can enroll in Green Building courses. Property managers in buildings that participate in the training fund can also organize on-site classes for their 32BJ supers and other eligible 32BJ building staff. As students complete each course, they can qualify to take free certification exams.
If you are a property management firm, a building owner, or a 32BJ building service worker, contact us and we will help coordinate your participation in our program.
